Mud Hero x Epilepsy Canada

Epilepsy Canada is a charity dedicated to finding a cure for epilepsy.

We believe that research will lead us to that cure.

We believe that educating our communities about epilepsy not only as a medical condition, but about the emotional, mental, social and economic effects that come along with it can bring new understanding and improve the lives of patients and caregivers alike.

We believe that more people talking about epilepsy, with more voices lifted together can create greater change. And that greater public knowledge and understanding about epilepsy will lead to more research dollars aimed at finding a cure.

Approximately 360,000 Canadians live with epilepsy (about 1% of the population) and 65 million people worldwide.

According to recent estimates, in up to 50% of patients diagnosed with epilepsy, the cause is unknown.

30% of people who are diagnosed will have drug-resistant epilepsy, which means their epilepsy cannot be treated with medicine.

Epilepsy affects more people than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and Parkinson’s combined – yet receives fewer federal dollars per patient than each of these.
